Closed/Open Doors

Closed/Open Doors

Are you curious to find out more about the broad range of beliefs and faiths to be found in Bruges? This walking route offers you a glimpse behind doors which are often closed. There are nine points along the way where you will encounter Anglicans, Hindus, Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Protestants, Roman Catholics, Liberal Humanists, YOT Christians and (Zen) Buddhists. You will spend some time in their spaces and you will be shown films in which a member of each organisation will introduce themselves and tell you a bit about the origins, symbols and rituals of their beliefs.

One thing to note is that the mosque and the Buddhist/Hindu parts of the walk are located outside the central Bruges walking route map but are still a part of the route. Simply click on the points indicated in order to see them. Bruges does not have a synagogue – the closest one is in Oostende, which is why it is not included in this route.

This route is an initiative of Erfgoedcel Brugge, Diversiteitsdienst Brugge, VormingPlus regio Brugge, S-Wan, YOT vzw, CCV and ZOWE.
